Be part of a movement to change the way Europe pays

In today’s digital Europe, payments still feel too complicated. Random delays, confusing rules, extra apps and accounts make it harder than it should be to pay and get paid.

The European Payments Initiative is changing that with Wero, a proudly European digital wallet to make payments easier, clearer and more secure. Online, in store, at home and across borders, with your money and data protected under European laws and regulations.

Wero is live in Belgium, France and Germany and launching very soon in Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Backed by 16 major banks and the two largest European acquirers, we’re building a brand new, proudly European payment system. Why not join us?

What's in it for you

We operate in a highly regulated industry, which means rigor and structure matter. But that doesn’t mean everything is set in stone. There is still plenty of room to experiment, challenge the way we work and introduce better tools and practices. Our HR team is curious and enthusiastic about opening new topics and trying new approaches.

You’ll work transversally with every part of People and directly with our Chief People Officer, giving you broad exposure to the function and a real opportunity to shape how we work as we continue to grow and mature.

About the team

You’ll report directly to the Chief People Officer, who oversees HR Operations, Compensation & Benefits, HR Business Partnering and Talent Acquisition. You’ll join a team of 16 international HR experts spread across Europe, each bringing their own expertise and perspective.

We’re still flying the plane while building parts of it, so expect the occasional bumpy ride. The good news? The crew is cheerful, supportive and always ready to help, so you’ll be in safe hands.

Your impact

As the HR Project Manager, you'll act as a trusted partner to the Chief People Officer, helping turn HR strategy into execution. Sitting at the center of the HR function, you'll bring structure, visibility and purpose to the initiatives that shape how we operate, scale and support the business.

  • Become the conductor of the HR roadmap, translating strategy into actionable plans, create structure ensuring the right priorities receive the right level of attention, and keeping critical initiatives moving forward.

  • Act as a strategic partner to the CHRO, providing visibility on priorities, risks, dependencies, budgets and delivery status across the HR function.

  • Own and elevate our HR project management methodology, continuously improving the way we plan, govern, track and deliver projects, care about details while embedding a culture of accountability and operational excellence.

  • Own the HR budget framework, maintaining a clear view of spend, commitments and personnel costs, and helping HR leadership make informed decisions through reliable data and forecasting; drive consensus about competing priorities and build trusted relationships across different departments.

  • Lead high-impact and strategic projects, from HR technology deployments and process redesign to cross-functional initiatives that improve the employee experience and support EPI's growth; prepare the organization for process and system change, delivery communications and training plans and support the adoption of new ways of working.

  • Drive innovation within HR, exploring how AI can simplify processes, improve decision-making and help us work smarter.

This role offers a unique opportunity to combine strategy, project management, operational excellence, innovation and business partnering while having a direct impact on how HR and the wider company evolve.

HR Technology stack

  • Project Management: Jira

  • HRIS: Lucca

  • EPM: Pigment, to be rolled out in 2027

  • Talent Acquisition: Teamtailor

  • You’ll also work with Outlook, Slack, Confluence, SharePoint, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

  • You’ll work on Mac

To succeed, you should meet at least 70% of these requirements

Mandatory company must-have

  • Fluent in English (CEFR C1 or C2); French, German, Dutch, or other European languages are a plus

  • Thrive in a remote-first, multicultural environment

Job specific requirements

  • Solid project management experience, with a strong command of project management methodologies and practices.

  • Strong proficiency with Jira or a comparable project management tool, including dashboards, reporting and data quality.

  • Previous experience working within an HR environment, with a good understanding of HR processes and operations.

  • Experience with budget management and follow-up, ideally including personnel costs.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

  • A proactive and autonomous mindset, with the ability to prioritize, anticipate needs and keep multiple initiatives moving forward.

  • A collaborative, low-ego approach, with the ability to build trust and influence without relying on authority.

We’d also value experience in the following areas

  • PMO, Chief of Staff, HR Consultant or transversal coordination experience, bringing structure and oversight across multiple teams.

  • Experience implementing or rolling out HR tools and processes in a growing organization.

  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment, such as payments, financial services or fintech.

  • Experience with Pigment, particularly in implementation, administration or Product Owner-type responsibilities.

Recruitment steps are:

We aim to keep our recruitment process simple, transparent and efficient. You’ll know what to expect at every step:

  1. First conversation with François, Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition | 45 min
We’ll discuss your experience, your understanding of the role and EPI, and answer your questions. François will also make sure you know what to expect and help you prepare for the next steps.

  2. Interview with Guillaume, Chief People Officer | 60 min
Guillaume will take you deeper into the scope and challenges of the role. You’ll discuss your HR background, project management experience and how you would approach some of the priorities ahead.

  3. Interview with Gwenaële, Director, People Operations | 60 min
A final conversation focused on how you work: collaboration, prioritization, stakeholder management and navigating competing demands. This step may also include a practical business case to explore how you approach real-life situations.

  4. Hopefully, an offer you can’t refuse

And of course, each conversation goes both ways: you’ll have plenty of opportunities to ask questions, meet your future colleagues and decide whether EPI is the right next step for you.

Turn back if …

  • You need someone else to define your priorities and next steps. We’re looking for someone who spots what needs attention, makes pragmatic trade-offs and keeps things moving.

  • You’re more interested in owning the spotlight than enabling others. This role is about influencing without ego, building trust and helping HR experts deliver at their best.

  • You believe every project deserves the same level of attention. You’ll need to stay calm when things get busy, distinguish critical from nice-to-have and balance ambition with the team’s actual capacity.

What we can offer

  • Remote-first culture with quarterly and annual all-staff in-person meetups to keep teams connected and collaborative

  • Possibility to work from another EU country for up to 3 months per year

  • Competitive compensation package, featuring salary, performance-based bonus, and a thoughtfully designed, high-quality benefits program

  • The opportunity to be part of a multicultural European company

  • Learning & development budget: €5,000 training budget per year

Otherwise apply!
