Offer Description
The candidate will study the electronic and optical properties of HgTe or HgSe nanocrystals as part of a multi-partner project to develop light sources (light-emitting diodes) in the mid-infrared spectrum. This will involve carrying out theoretical studies and developing numerical simulations in support of the experimental and technological studies carried out by the project partners. The objective is to predict the properties of nanocrystals and their assemblies, as well as to qualify innovative strategies to make more efficient emitters.
- 1. Calculation of electronic structure and optical spectra of nanocrystals
- 2. Study of the doping effects on these properties, including many-body effects
- 3. Study of Förster transfers of excitations between nanocrystals dedicated to infrared
- 4. Comparisons with experiments, guidance of technological developments
This postdoctoral work will be carried out within the Physics team of the Institute of Electronics, Microelectronics and Nanotechnology (IEMN, UMR 8520) in Villeneuve d'Ascq. It is funded by the NANOMIRAGE project (ANR-25-CE09-3398). The candidate will benefit from the computational resources of the institute and possibly from the national high-performance computing centres, as well as from the very multidisciplinary environment of the IEMN.
- 1. PhD in Condensed Matter Physics with solid knowledge in quantum physics
- 2. Expertise in electronic structure calculations
- 3. Strong experience in numerical modelling, computer science and programming (Fortran if possible)
- 4. Good command of spoken, read and written English
- 5. Ability to work in a team
