Not funded by a EU programme Is the Job related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure? No
Offer Description
The recruited researcher will investigate the molecular mechanisms involved in cholesterol transport and storage at endoplasmic reticulum–plasma membrane contact sites, as well as their relationship with lipid droplet metabolism. They will use cell and molecular biology approaches, live-cell imaging by confocal and TIRF microscopy, lipid visualization techniques, and electron microscopy. They will be responsible for data acquisition and quantitative analysis, interpretation of results, and dissemination of findings through scientific presentations and publications.
- 1. Conduct cell and molecular biology experiments to investigate the role of membrane contact sites in cholesterol transport and storage.
- 2. Study protein dynamics and localization at membrane contact sites using live-cell imaging, including confocal, TIRF and super-resolution microscopy.
- 3. Visualize and analyze the intracellular distribution of lipids, particularly cholesterol, and their transport between cellular compartments.
- 4. Use electron microscopy to characterize cellular ultrastructure, contacts between organelles, and lipid droplet morphology.
- 5. Perform experimental data acquisition, quantitative analysis and interpretation.
- 6. Present results at scientific meetings and contribute to the preparation of scientific publications.
- 7. Participate in scientific discussions and collaborative activities within the research team.
The project will be carried out within the Lipid Trafficking and Membrane Contact Sites team, led by Francesca Giordano in the Cell Biology Department at I2BC. The team specializes in lipid biology, membrane contact sites and advanced imaging. The project will benefit from the laboratory's equipment and access to the Imagerie-Gif core facility, particularly for fluorescence and electron microscopy. The project is funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR).
- 1. PhD in cell biology.
- 2. Proven experience in live-cell imaging using confocal, TIRF and super-resolution microscopy.
- 3. Experience in electron microscopy and analysis of cellular ultrastructure.
- 4. Skills in lipid visualization and the study of intracellular lipid trafficking.
- 5. Knowledge of membrane contact sites and lipid transport mechanisms.
- 6. Proficiency in cell and molecular biology techniques.
- 7. Skills in quantitative image analysis and experimental data processing.
- 8. Ability to work independently, scientific rigor, analytical skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- 9. Strong scientific communication and scientific writing skills.
- 10. Proficiency in written and spoken scientific English.
Additional comments
The position is part of an ANR-funded research project at the I2BC, within the Lipid Trafficking and Membrane Contact Sites team. The successful candidate will investigate the role of ORPs in cholesterol transport and storage, using advanced fluorescence imaging and electron microscopy.
