Job ID: 10591965 | Amazon Data Services France SAS

Amazon Web Services is seeking a DC/DC Power Electronics Engineer to design isolated high-power DC/DC converter stages forming the core of the MV-to-800 VDC SST power‑conversion architecture.

As a DC/DC Power Electronics Engineer you will own the DC/DC stage: Designs DAB/CLLC isolated converters at the core of the MV-to-800 VDC chain, delivering a defined stage independently.

You will optimize ZVS/ZCS regions, high-frequency modulation, paralleling/current‑sharing and efficiency across variable AI/data‑center load profiles.

You will coordinate with MFT/inductor, front‑end and 800 VDC interfaces and validates transient/efficiency/thermal behavior against measurement.

About AIS

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.

In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running.

We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.

You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

  • Key job responsibilities
  • Converter development
  • Design DAB, CLLC and related isolated DC/DC converter architectures.
  • Develop high-frequency modulation strategies for high-power operation.
  • Optimize ZVS/ZCS operating regions and switching performance.
  • Evaluate efficiency across variable AI/data‑center load profiles.
  • System interaction
  • Coordinate DC/DC design with medium-frequency transformer and inductor designs.
  • Define electrical interfaces with the AC/DC front end and 800 VDC output.
  • Assess paralleling, current sharing and module fault‑isolation strategies.
  • Support protection and control requirements for the DC/DC stage.
  • Simulation & validation
  • Use PLECS, PSIM and/or MATLAB/Simulink to model converter behavior.
  • Validate transient response, efficiency and thermal performance.
  • Correlate simulation with hardware measurements.
  • Support prototype testing and design iteration.
  • SST System Alignment
  • Design the isolated DC/DC stage to support the system 800 Vdc unipolar LVDC interface, including ±0.5% switching ripple, ±1% static regulation and ±3% dynamic regulation targets.
  • Support 150%/150 ms fault‑protection coordination and 120%/5 s overload capability, subject to final product‑level verification.
  • Address redundancy, catcher/block architectures, current sharing and LVDC load‑profile verification.
  • A day in the life

As a DC/DC Power Electronics Engineer, your primary focus is designing and optimizing isolated converter architectures that serve as the core of our medium‑voltage to 800 VDC power‑conversion chain.

You'll spend your time developing DAB and CLLC converter designs, using simulation tools like PLECS, PSIM, and MATLAB/Simulink to model converter behavior and validate performance against real‑world requirements.

Your day involves collaborating with colleagues across magnetics, thermal, controls, and PCB design to ensure your DC/DC stage integrates seamlessly with the broader system.

You'll coordinate electrical interfaces with the AC/DC front end and 800 VDC output, assess paralleling and current‑sharing strategies, and support prototype testing to correlate simulation results with hardware measurements.

You'll also document design decisions, trade‑offs, and technical specifications to ensure clarity across the team and support future iterations.
